The Pirate Factions
In VCO there are 3 Main pirate factions that you can join
The Crete Pirates
The Corsica Pirates

and of course the infamous
Caribbean Pirates

As Their names suggest, the Crete pirate can be found on Crete island just south of Athens on the map.
The Corsica pirates can be found on the island of Corsica just south of Genoa.
And the Caribbean Pirates can be found in the Caribbean Sea on the island of Tortue(Tortuga) near the island of Cuba.

Pirate Noble Title List

  • Wanderers
  • Peg  leg
  • Iron hand
  • Metal tooth
  • Golden eye
  • Jackal
  • Falcon
  • Flying tiger
  • Skeleton
  • Devil
  • Hades
  • Great pirate
  • Pirate King

Pirate Special Skills
Pirates get 2 special skills that normal players dont in order to help them in the career of piracy.

Extort
as the name implies it allows a pirate player to extort money from a player just like the NPC pirates do. To use this on a player the player must be pvp lvl, cause if they dont want to pay and choose to fight it goes to pvp seabattle. When you extort a player and they chose to pay, the amount of money you recieve is determined by the game itself. However it is influenced by the extort skill lvl, the higher the skill lvl the more money you will receive. Just remember though its based on the amount of money that a player has in their pocket while sailing around. So even with lvl 3 extort, if a player only has a couple million on them at the time, ur cut isnt going to be that much.

To use the skill:
Click on a player that is able to be PvP'd, currently that is anyone of Profession lvl 55 or higher.
click the extort button and wait to see what happens
the player being extorted can pay or choose to fight
-if they chose pay you get money, amount is set by the computer
-if they chose fight, you will turn pink and enter seabattle instantly

Disposal of Stolen Goods
Whenever White sail merchant ships, or pirate ships are sunk they leave behind trade goods in the wreckage. This skill allows a player to instantly dispose of the trade goods and turn them into cash without the need of taking them to a trader to sell.

To use the skill:
click on the ship wreckage so the loot window opens, click on the disposal skill button in ur skill bar. the icon will change, then click on the trade goods to turn them into cash. Easy as that!
**NOTE:
When using disposal, turn off auto loot to prevent the auto pickup of trade goods from wreckage.

How to Become a Crete Pirate

Becoming a crete pirate can be a bit tricky, especially as a new player because you have attacked them for tasks and seabattle xp. Plus they are located right there south of Athens without much room to sneak by them.
So if you have your heart set on becoming a crete pirate, head to crete island and head into the crete bandit camp.
Watch out cause the pirates in there will attack you!
Take a look around, see what is in the pirate camp and where everything is, including their boss.

Chances are though before you can apply to become a pirate you will need to fix your amity with crete, to do that you will need to sink merchant ship from either Athens, Beirut, Istanbul or Alexandria. Keep sinking them til you amity is positive. and watch out cause the patrol ships and frigates from the cities you attack will attack you if they get the chance. And if your in the town the guards for that city will attack you too.

Once you have the amity with the pirates that you need, you can go and fix your amity with the cities that you attacked. Find the official in the city and pay him to get your amity back up.

Once your amity is positive head back and apply to join.
Leveling your pirate title is discussed below...

How to Become a Corsica Pirate
Or Maybe you want to become a Corsica Pirate instead....
Well pretty much the same thing as becoming a crete pirate. Corsica is just below Genoa on the map, head there and go look at the pirate camp there.
Same procedures as crete, get your amity up with the pirates by killing ships from the Ottoman and Greek empires (Athens, Istanbul, Alexandria, Beirut and Algiers) and apply to join. Then go fix your amity with those cities to prevent attacks.

Crete and Corsica Pirate Amity and Noble Titles

For general requirements regarding noble titles see the Noble Titles and Nationality Guide:
http://forum.vc.igg.com/viewthre ... ht=ottoman%2Bempire

Now to raise your pirate title is a bit different that normal noble titles. With normal ones you raise your reputation, then get amity from the city official. However with pirates to get amity you have to sink ships.
To get up to 50 amity you can sink the gem named merchant ships of the kingdoms that are your factions enemy (pearl, coral, jade, etc)
to get amity over 50 you have to attack the city patrol ships and frigates.

Minimum Requirements to Become A Pirate
If you arent going to become notorious, then all you have to worry about are city patrol ships at sea, and the city guards on land.
Remember if you have negative amity in any empire, all the cities of that empire will attack you. So if you attack ships from only Beirut, it lowers your amity with the Ottoman empire and ships from every Ottoman city will go after you.
That said
For a minimum you should be ok with
Sea:
Caroalle Sailboat
Navigation Star Figurehead plused with storyline refines (+5k hull/sail, +500 load, +6 sail, +3 turning, +100 cannons, +500 sailors)
at least a set of lvl 73 profession sea jewelry
max amount of lvl 6+ cannons
at least armor piercing or canister ammo
Land:
Lvl 75 prof uniform, plused with bad refines
lvl 71 weapon, plused with bad refines
lvl 73 land jewelry set

Being A Notorious Pirate
Being a notorious pirate means attacking other players and trying to take what they have. Once you attack another player your name will change color from blue to pink, and if you kill a person name will turn red. This allows everyone on the server to know that you killed someone, which makes you a target also. Because while your name is pink or red when you die you can drop any items that are not bound to your character.

For all the rules of PVP please refer to the PVP guide:
Guide to PvP in VCO

Being a notorious pirate is pretty much the same as any regular pvp, just watch your back where ever you go and remember you may attack players that are lower than you, but you have no control over who is hunting YOU!!
As a general rule ingame: Anyone with a name that is red, will be hunted til dead!! ARRRRRRRR

How to Become a Caribbean Pirate

To join the Caribbean pirates, you will first need 10,000 silver. You will also need a good lvl ship (preferably Battleship), requirements discussed above.
Set sail for Tortue(Tortuga) island near Cuba, south of Florida. Once you get there take a look around, unlike crete and corsica you will notice this is a whole town with all of the usual npcs there selling most of the basic stuff you will need.
NOTE: The pirate teddy boys and girls will occasionally ask you for money, either pay them or attack them it doesnt matter. attacking them will not damage your reputation with the CPs.

Once you have looked around head up top and go find Pirate Castellan Levassor. Select the Apply for noble title and then say yes you do want to join, He will inform you that it costs 10k, just say yes.
Congratulations! You are now a Caribbean Pirate!

Caribbean Pirate Amity and Noble Titles

To gain pirate amity, you have to kill Merchant ships. If you go directly north out of tortue, there is a trade route for the Kingdoms of Portugal and Spain. If you go a bit further north, you will find a England/Dutch Republic route.
On these trade routes out near Tortue, there are absolutely no Glory Frigates, Freedom Patrol Ships or Arbitral Cruisers!
You can sink ships all day long and not worry.... until you go back to Europe that is!

The carribean pirates are the pickiest pirates to level up with. to gain amity you have to sink certain ships at certain amounts of amity for it to increase.
The Amity and Ships to kill are here:

Amity Amount
Ship to Sink
0-10 Pearl Armed Merchant
10-20 Ruby Armed Merchant
20-30 Saphire Armed Merchant
30-40 Gold Armed Merchant
40-50 Diamond Armed Merchant
50+ Arbital Cruisers, Freedom Patrols and glory frigates

You can sink them either by boarding, or without boarding and just using cannons.
Cannons only means just seabattle involved
Boarding means seabattle, then land battle
However boarding does get you the most rewards, you get the loot from the captain, plus the ship wreckage.

To Kill without Boarding:
Once you enter seabattle just shoot at them and sink them as fast as you can. Try to stay out of their cannon firing arc, which seems to be about 90°

To Board Them:
Head at them straight on, they will veer to one side to fire as you near them. turn in that direction to stay out of firing arc. get close and use your hook to board them. once on deck head right over to the captain and kill him. simple enough!
then use your disposal skill on the goods that are dropped, well once you get the skill manual.

When your pirating is done for the day and you want to go back to Europe, maybe to seville for a shopping spree ARRRR
You will want to fix your amity with the countries that you attacked and pillaged.

To gain Spanish and Portuguese amity back head over to a Gibraltar Battlefield
To gain English and Dutch amity simply go into a North Sea Battlefield

Amity you get will be random, for city amity as well as Pirate amity while working on titles
Be Patient and you will eventually get all that you need!

Caribbean Pirate Tasks

So, now that you are a Caribbean pirate, you should probably try some of the pirate missions.

This quest can be found at this pirate boss (the guy u talk to for becomming pirate, getting new titles)
U have to find 3 documents that are stollen from tortuga
- Die Ge's Note

- Tortue Chronicle
To find these document u have to board ships again. I only know 2 people who been able to complete this task. Reward for this task is a pirate amulet (kinda same as courage badges)
So far i only found Die Ge's Note myself and missing the 2 others. I think the drops are random cause i someone found Die Ge's Note on english ship, i found it on ruby. So far the people who completed this quest found 1 document on ruby, 1 document on sapphire, 1 document on gold

Royal Charlie

Quest  Name:      Royal trade caravan
Quest serial:     64
Requirement:       Complete 63.requirement:Nationality is Caribbean pirate
Task description:   Find the Adventure Logbook for Pirate Castellan Levassor
NPC:               Pirate Castellan Levassor
Reward:           FlyingTiger necklace
I can't give u much info on this task. Few days ago i was talking to fellow pirate who completed the lost document quest. I think this quest is also given by pirate boss after completing lost documents. All i know is that this quest requires to board Royal Charlie, the merchant ship in the general will fleet. This must be hard task. The merchant ships in these fleets are same as dark diamonds, so u have to fight 4 dark diamonds and a frigate. I guess this quest can only be completed by teaming up with some pirate who wanna help u to complete the task. Maybe u can try to sail straight to Charlie and board him.
Like i said, i don't know anyone who completed this task or even tried it, so its unknow what land fighting lvl u need to board this guy.

____________________________________________________________

Black Market
black market is all about trade vouchers.
U can buy 1 caribbean amity for 25 vouchers or 5 amity for 100 vouchers.
Next to this u can buy rings, necklaces and amulets from black market. But these items require 300-1000 vouchers.
Vouchers are a hard to get cause the drop rate of them is pretty low, and the merchants only drop 1-3 vouchers.
