High Seas Fishing Guide
Preparation
1. Purchase fishing pole and baits from in game item mall.
2. There are 4 types of poles: Rod, Fine Fishing Rod, Navigation Fishing Rod and deep sea.

3. There are 3 types of Bait: Primary, secondary, and advanced.
Currently there are only 2 kinds available in the item mall (2/2011)
You can also purchase fishing rods and bait from the in game Item mall. (Item Type tab)
The rods can be bought for in game coin 2.5 Million - 22.5 million coin
The bait can be bought for Item mall points. It shows 3 kinds of bait but only the senior bait can be bought (for 3 IM).
How to fish
1. When you stop on top of a shoal, right click on the bait. Then left click on pole to place bait on the "hook". After you bait your hook, it shows the level of the bait.
2. Select the shoal and left click on the pole to start fishing.
3. Once you start fishing, there is 30 second count down. For these 30 seconds, you can not move the ship or you will stop fishing/fail. If the shoal moves too far away from you, you will stop fishing/fail. Also note, the success rate is proportionate to your fishing level.
When you fish, every successful 30 second period you will get one of the following
These items show in your ships Articles and are used at the Fishing Contest Judge (see below)
These items are NOT the same as the off shore fish with a similar name!!
Offshore fish show in your ships Goods tab.

There are 7 kinds of fish that give points:
Anchovy, Sardine, Cod, Herring, Salmon, Rat fish,and Sturgeon
If there is an special fishing event held...Winner gets silver, title and IM items.
Price exchange:
For every 100 anchovy: 1 million
For every 100 Sardine: 2 million
For every 100 Cod fish: 3.5 million
For every 100 herring: 5 million
For every 100 Salmon: 7.5 million
For every 100 Ratfish: 10 million
For every 100 Sturgeon: 15 million
Zealous fish collector (63, -75) Seville Upper Dock:
**WARNING* NPC does not tell you how many and "new Voyage Log" does not show quests!!!
To be able to collect enough fish flesh for the quests; you will need to stack the fish flesh.
Right click the deep-sea fish ... Some will turn to "flesh" and some will turn into other rewards.
Task 1:
Collect swordfish flesh, tuna flesh, salmon flesh and eel flesh
Actual Requirement
Collect 50 of each type of flesh (swordfish, tuna, salmon, eel)
For every 50 meat of sea swordfish, deep sea tuna, deep sea eel, deep sea salmon can be exchange for items like:
Gigantic Sword, Dragon -Squama Falchion, Heaven's Halberd, Original Type of Musket, Mal / Female chain armor, Male/ Female Officer Suit.
Task 2
Collect shark flesh and shark fin
Actual Requirement
collect 30 great white shark flesh, and 2 fins you can get
Moxie Sword, Dragon Edge, Detonator Gun, and Longinus Spear, Male / Female Gaul Armor and hat.
Task 3
Collect shrimp shell
Actual Requirement
Collect 10 Lobster scale you can get
Ganjiang Sword, Multiple Tempered sword(?), Axe of Minotaur, Ancient Fire Gun, male/female Executor Suit and hat.
Task 4
Collect lobster specimen
Actual Requirement
For every lobster specimen you can get
Divine Falchion of Mars, Divine Halberd of Poseidon, Aris Holy Sword, Lost Fire Gun, Timeur Helmet, Mulan Helmet, Timeur Suit, and Mulan Chain Robes.
Specimen Producer (72, -84) Seville upper Dock
Exchange 40 Shrimp shells (lobster shells/scales) + 10,000,000 coin for a lobster specimen.

Tips
Using the fishing rods are a great way to catch had to acquire jewelry. Use a team to fish with the 2nd boat doing the fishing, the lead boat follows the fish with out canceling the attempt.
Only deep sea rod w/ high lvl bait in senior shoals will catch lobster and they dont come very often
When caught in a storm or when fishing failed I had to re-bait the hook. If I stopped fishing because I was out of range, I did not have to re-bait, I just clicked the rod again.
The most important thing
Many people are concerned about whether the fishing skill level can affect the success rate or not.
The answer is yes. The higher your fishing skill level, the higher your success rate.
Level 1 Fishing Skill has 40% success rate, but what if you have level 100 Fishing skill? No fail I guess.
It seemed that on average you had about 3-6 seconds to recognize the shoal stopped and got fishing on it. If you are too slow the shoal will start to drift away on you before you can collect. To speed things up I pre-loaded the rod ( right click bait and click rod ), put the fishing rod in the tool bar on F1, once I recognized the shoal had stopped I sailed to it, mouse selected it and used F1 key.
Durability
Regardless the level of your fish rod, all new rods have 100 durability. They cannot be repaired. Each attempt of fishing will reduce durability by 1, no matter if you fail or succeed. When the durability reaches 0, the rod cannot be used anymore.

My personal experience/ observations:
Low level shoal (1 Navigation fishing rod w/ senior bait) will only give:
*note "Rod" would not work on low level shoal with senior bait.
Deep-sea Swordfish
Deep-sea tuna
Deep-sea salmon
Deep-sea eel (only got 1)
Anchovy
Sardine
Cod
Herring
Salmon
Shoals disappear after 8-10 successful fishing attempts.
